Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a UK Bird sanctuary. I found the sanctuary by accident so there was no planning behind the shot. I am self taught, or rather my late father taught me the basics. A few years ago i founded the 'World image magazine' (worldimagemag.com) an began publishing the work of other photographers from around the world. This had the unforeseen effect of forcing an upgrade in my own photography to stand as an equal. sadly, due to other commitments the magazine was suspended and the website will close in January. Back issues and any that are produced in the future will still be available on Yumpu.com. I have developed my own style to 'show off' the subjects that I take, I like it and if others enjoy what i produce then that makes me happy.

Time

about 11am

Lighting

All my images are taken under natural light when possible, i do not like studio work or flash although i do use both. I never use flash when taking animals or people outdoors, I do not like it so why should they?

Equipment

Taken hand held with the canon 7d and the 70-300 zoom

Inspiration

if I like what i see i take the picture. simples.

Editing

Most photographs i take have very little if any post processing, these are the exception in that the background is blacked out. It is still there but just not visible.

Feedback

Learn to SEE and not just see. A photographer will see the picture and its possibilities not just the view.
