Location
The photo was taken in a privat Haflingers' stud, in Polish mountains.Time
The photo was taken in February at 11:47 am. Normally I don't shoot at this time of the day, but in winter when the days are short and especially in the mountains where the sunset is really soon, it happens. I must say, dispite of the time of the day, this is one of my best photos ever.Lighting
As I said it is not the lighting I like to use, I prefer morning or evening light and the quality of the advatage of the photo reside more in the action and the right moment than in the lightining.Equipment
The photo was shot some years ago with Canon EOS 40D and lens EF 300mm f/4L IS USMInspiration
I really like to photograph Haflingers and I think they particulary suit winter time. Important thing - they have to have their manes and tailes washed!. That's why I decided to go to this stud, located in very picturesque area in winter time. I knew I would be able to take good photos. But I was raelly lucky to take this one.Editing
I am trying to do as little of processing as it possible. I only retouched the electric fence behind horses. In my camera bag
Now I work with Canon 1 DX, which I simply love. For shooting horses I mostly use 70-200mm f/4L lens because of its little weight. I also use 24-105mm f/4L.Feedback
It's very difficult to shoot something similar. There are so many things which are important when you shoot horses in action... I think it's rather the question of luck
