Location
This was taken on Main Street, in Winnipeg, MB Canada. This is just north of the city's iconic Portage and Main intersection, in an area known as "The Exchange". The neon sign of the Woodbine Hotel looked great on the rain soaked sidewalk. Not one of the city's classier "destination" hotels but it has a bar and some life.Time
Evening, it was around 8 PM.Lighting
I edited the original photo. The lighting was the result of a steady rainfall throughout that day. While editing, I lowered the lighting to get the effects seen in the photo. The neon sign stood out, giving it a "film noir" look.Equipment
Canon RebelT2i. No flash. No tripod.Inspiration
I was looking for a "film noir" look. Neon signs look great in the rain. Seeing the man carrying grocery bags toward the Woodbine said something about people in need.Editing
Originally in colour, I edited the photo to Black and White. enhancing the photo and making it clearer. In my camera bag
Usually my camera!Feedback
Focus directly on an object to centre the photo. In this example, I focused on the neon sign. That helps in any photo.
