Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo while on holiday with my partner in Algonquin park in Ontario, Canada.

Time

It was later in the afternoon but still a few hours before sunset, we had been traveling through and taking photos in Algonquin park all day

Lighting

Nothing much to say really, it was natural light in the mid afternoon so not too harsh.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D5300 with a Sigma 10-20mm at 10mm. No tripod was used because I wanted as low as possible to the floor to get more trees in shot. It was set in manual mode and on self timer and placed against the tree at f8 to get a good in focus zone. it took a few shots to get this shot.

Inspiration

We saw the tree's while driving and it looked a good place to look for a shot, going into the woods and taking some shots I looked up and had the idea and we experimented with many different shots.

Editing

Not much editing was done at all really, just a small amount to pull the white's back a bit and a small amount of sharpening and that was it. A very easy shot to edit.

In my camera bag

I always take two D5300 Nikon camera's with me. I always carry all my lenses as I never know what I intend on doing, I carry my 18-55mm f3.5-f5.6, 18-50mm f2.8, 10-20mm f4-f5.6, 55-300mm f4.5-5.6, 28-75mm f2.8, 105mm macro f2.8, lensbaby scout, and my 300mm f2.8, a x2 and a x1.4 kenko teleconverter and the normal small bits and bobs like spare batteries and cards. Yes its heavy but I would rather take it than wish I had a lens with me I left at home!

Feedback

All I would say is to really look about and really see what is around you, we saw so many people walking past some beautiful shots and missing out because they were heading to a lookout point or something similar and not really seeing the journey to that place. look everywhere and don't forget to look up!!
