Location
I took this photo at an old abandoned mill in Greer SC It's so beautiful here in the fall but very hard to photograph because its on the side of a very sharp turn and there is no parking.Time
This is one of my favorite fall photographs. I love the way the orange lights up the leaves in this sunset photo. I took this at around 6pm in the later weeks of October. I was on my way home and took a different route than normal and I found this gem tucked away in the woods.Lighting
I would say this is the golden hour at its finest! I managed to capture just enough light through the trees. It was almost dark and the most beautiful yellow and orange leaves lit up this beautiful scenery.Equipment
I used my Nikon 7100 with my 55-300mm lens to capture this shot. I didn't use a flash or a tripod. Just freehanded while holding onto an old tree.Inspiration
The feeling of a cool fall evening and warm light inspired my take on this photo. I really wasn't planning to take this. I literally saw the light made a u-turn and parked on the side of the road to grab it before the sun went down. Im so pleased that I did.Editing
I boosted the contrast a bit and played with the levels to get a more vibrant color pallet. In my camera bag
I always have my nikon d7100 as well as my 50-300 and my 18-140mm with me. I never know what I may run across and this is proof that you don't have to have super fancy gear to capture a great photo!Feedback
Be ready for anything! Be ready to turn the car around at a moments notice to take a shot in the middle of nowhere! Be free ! Take chances. They don't always pan out but when they do its awesome! Learn your gear. If you have the best gear available, know how to use it. If you have a cheap 2nd hand camera figure out all of the bells and whistles and make it work! Really you just have to love photography!
