Behind The Lens
Location
The photo was taken in Campbell River BC down at Oyster River BeachTime
The tide had turned to go out and it was about 1130 in the morningLighting
The sun was behind the bird and to the side of me so shadowing my face and lens was importantEquipment
Alot of the shots I take I use what nature has out there. ie a log or rock and with this one I used a rock to steady the camera. I have a small fujifillm finepix 5 camera and a tripod. Depending on the situation I will on occasion use my tripodInspiration
I am always outdoors and I have a love of nature no matter how big or how small and this guy looked so majestic sitting there. It was as if he was standing guard and protecting something.Editing
I do a bit of processing. Not all my photos get that and this particular picture I did a bit of post sharpening but thats it. To me the color was just right for what I wanted. When I do use post editing I use Corel Paintshop Pro X8. It is very user friendly for someone like myself who is an amatuer photographer. In my camera bag
Hahahaha not much. My camera, extra batteries, lens cleaner, some off filters that I made myself. Can't afford anything else so you work with what you have!!!!Feedback
You know the old saying about walking softly and carrying a big stick? Well walk softly, have your camera ready and sneak up on him! They move real fast when they feel so inclined.
