Location
There is a creek that runs behind our house, I love to hike back there, you never know what you will see. I really enjoy Macro photography, no shortage of bugs, butterflies and other tiny creatures I can find to photograph.Time
It was early evening when the hot Summer sun was beginning to cool, beautiful soft lighting, my favorite!Lighting
The lighting was beautiful, soft and filtered by the thin cloud layer. No flash was used, all natural lighting.Equipment
Canon 7D, with my Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro, hand held.Inspiration
I LOVE nature! I'm in my element when I'm out side. I love to hike and enjoy every moment of everyday! Mother Nature has so much to offer. I find bugs, butterflies and spiders absolutely fascinating! I love to photograph them, load my pictures and research each and every critter I see! I've learned so much that way. The amazing thing about Macro is it's a whole new world! You are able to discover things some would never see. I love to share with my friends and family so they can see these tiny insects actually have a face!Editing
Lifted the shadows a bit, and ran a noiseware plug in on Photoshop, that's it!In my camera bag
My Canon 7D, My favorite lens is the Canon 100 f/2.8 Macro, I also love my Canon 400 f/5.6L for birding which I love also!Feedback
Take the time to look. Just trucking down the road will not produce much. Many times I find a comfortable place to sit and just look, I scan through each and every leaf and twig, you'd be amazed at what you will find if you just take the time to look! Trust me, they are not looking for you, in fact, they are most likely hiding from you! Take your time, bugs do not normally like to be photographed. I take a few shots then move in closer until I'm right where I want to produce the shot I'm looking for. Be patient, sometimes you just have to wait for them to be comfortable with you sticking a camera in their face. Think about composition, where to best place your subject to ultimately convey your story. I love when photos tell a story- a snap shot in time says so much and truly connects with your mind, body and soul. Now that's photography!
