Location
The photo was taken outdoor, in a wrecked building.Time
It was around 18.00 o clock.Lighting
I believe that the most important thing to consider as a portrait photographer is the quality of the light you will be shooting in. I wanted to promote a mysterious look. There was some beautiful but dim light coming in through the window, so I asked my model to come close to the window in order the light to be reflected in her face. Then i desided to use one flash at the side, to fill up the darker areas. The background was dark.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D 7000 with an 50mm f/1.8. Aslo one flash with softbox was involved.Inspiration
I was looking to give expression and clarity to my portraits. I was fascinated by her eyes.Editing
I made a post-processing. My personal satisfaction comes from taking the image into Photoshop and re-interpreting it in a way that makes it feel more like a painting. After I develop the raw file I changing the brightness/contrast, adding vignettes, and textures using the power of frequency separation retouching. Also one of the most effective part was the process of the eyes.In my camera bag
The first thing I always pack is my Nikon 50 mm f/1.8 prime. The second one is the Sigma 105 mm f/2.8 prime and the Sigma 24 mm f/1.4 prime. Also the Nikon 18-105 mm f/3.5-5.6 is a good solution for making it possible to shoot most subjects with just one lens. Every lens have it purpose.Feedback
It's good to have in mind the 6 steps. The location to take the photo, consider our lighting, to set up our scene, to pose the subject, “Break” the Shot and take the shot is the key to achieve perfect portrait expression.
