Wow what a shot, Kingfishers can be so hard to photograph! I'd love to see more of your work.

Location
This image was taken at a fish farm in rural Suffolk UK. One small pool on the farm was kept stocked with small fish and a pair of Kingfishers quickly took advantage of the food on offer.Time
This particular shot was taken in the early morning when the light was at its softest.Lighting
Avoid the harsh light of direct sun.Equipment
I used a Nikon D7000 on a tripod with an automatic shutter release which I would use in bursts when the bird dived.Inspiration
Loving all wildlife as I do I'd always wanted to photograph a Kingfisher diving. I could not resist this opportunityEditing
I had to saturate the image a bit and a little sharpening was applied. In my camera bag
I have now have a Nikon D810 and a Nikon D500. The lens I use the most is the Nikon 300mm f/4 VR with 1.4x converter. I also sometimes use a Nikon 500mm lens but always on a tripod.Feedback
Get to know your subject well. Study how it behaves and you will be ready to get that special shot. Also have lots and lots of patience!
