Spectacular! Thanks for this photo! I was wondering what settings you use for a shot like this?

Wow!!! This looks like it could have been shot in your bathroom sink!!! It is so well lit! The color balance is perfection.
The way you froze the water is amazing! I guess I just can't say enough about this photo, except LOVE!!!!!! Congrats!!

Location
This was taken at a private fishing lake in Suffolk UK. A small pool was kept supplied with small fish and I sat in the hide/blind for hours waiting for the birds to come and fish. They had a hungry brood to feed so visited the pool quite often. I must have taken hundreds and hundreds if shots but it was this image that stood out for me. It seems that the bird is reaching out with his wings in an almost human display of joy. In fact, the head is at an 180 degree angle and the bird is actually looking backwards.Time
Early morning to get the best lighting conditions.Lighting
A lot of the time the small pool was in shade but luckily this shot benefited from diffused sunlight.Equipment
Nikon D7100 with a Nikkor 500mm lens and tripod. No flash was used.Inspiration
A Kingfisher is an iconic bird and to get one making a successful catch was my aim.Editing
I tweaked the levels and cropped the image a bit. Also a little saturation to make the colours a bit more lively. In my camera bag
Nikon D7100, D810 and recently a Nikon D500. 500mm lens for hide work only and my favourite lens is the Nikkor 300 f/4 VR.Feedback
