Up in a Tree

This photo encompasses so much of what I love and value in life. The clear blue sky whispers of limitless possibilities; the warm sunshine and cool, tingling breeze that accompany mischievously suggest that change and discovery are around the corner. I've had an affinity for nature, and trees in particular, since childhood. When I stop to share a moment with a beautiful specimen it stirs up something in my soul. Something creative, something daring. A gypsy who has seen over thirty houses in under twenty-five years, I sense the roots that go down deep and feel at home wherever I am. And then there are those platforms, weathered but still capable of holding up a full-grown man (just ask my brother) - the quintessential childhood haunt, for those who are bold and fearless, who aren't content with the view from "down there," who thrive on promise of new horizons. Finally, last but not least, there is Spring in this photo. The tree looks lifeless but thrumming through its branches is life, ready to burst afresh in so many bright green leaves.

Yes, this photo holds so much of what I love in life.
