This little Fawn has been visiting our front yard frequently. She loves to eat the wild violet leaves, and is always alone, so we assume she has lost

Our cat Cleo (who was a rescue kitty) loves to 'claim' anything that is put on the floor. I had taken a blanket off a chair to go for laundr

I don't know what this insect is, but I was struck by its large conical eyes.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a small lake near the southern coast of our province. I was on my way to enjoy a beautiful day at the beach when I happened across the colourful leaves surrounding this lake.

Time

This photo was taken mid-afternoon on a gorgeous, crisp October day.

Lighting

The photo was taken hand-held, with the natural October sunlight shining on the water and the colourful trees.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D5200 to take this photo, with a Nikkor 18-300 mm lens.

Inspiration

The trees were displaying their full Autumn foliage, and I knew that they would only be colourful for a short time before the leaves began to fall. So I wanted to capture as many photos of their beautiful colours as I could.

Editing

This photo did not require much post-processing. The colours were already vibrant, and required just a touch more saturation.

In my camera bag

Since this photo was taken, the Nikon D5200 sadly no longer works. However, I now carry a Nikon D7200 (along with a Nikon D3300 and Sony A5000 as backups) in my camera bag, along with several lenses and filters.

Feedback

My best advice is to always have a camera of some sort with you for those occasions when you are out walking or travelling, even if its only for a short distance, so that if you come across a scene that you want to capture, you can.
