Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken at Rowe's Woods/Cincinnati Nature Center in Milford, Ohio. This was my first trip to this Nature Center and I was stunned at how beautiful and natural everything was there. They have a few ponds and a lake, and many trails. The lake and ponds were filled with an assortment of wildlife.Time
Normally, I don't shoot in the heat of the day but I did spot several frogs sunning themselves in the strong sun overhead.Lighting
The sun worked in my favor on this shot. One of those "high noon" times of day but the sun was perfect for this location in the water.Equipment
This was actually taken with my Canon Rbel a few years before I upgraded to my Canon 7D, lens 70-300M . The longer lens was needed since I was on the banks of the water and the frogs were in the middle of the pond. Plus it was a new lens and I was dying to try it out. Shoot at the full 300mInspiration
I was looking for something different and the frogs all lined up together on this log caught my eye. I literally laid on the banks to focus and shoot.Editing
Not much processing was done, other than cropping, the fantastic lighting did it all for me.In my camera bag
I always have my 24-105m, 70-300, and my wide angle, 10-22m.Feedback
It helps to have a longer lens always handy when shooting nature photos. I like the look of zooming in and getting the DOF blur that makes the subject stand out.
