This is one of my favorite lighthouses. Split Rock Lighthouse sits like a sentinel high above Lake Superior in the arrowhead of Minnesota. I've visited this lighthouse many times, but the last time was in December if 2009. Snow was predicted and there was already some snow on the ground. The heavy clouds told the story, but Split Rock remained true looking out over the largest fresh water lake of the Great Lakes.
