Location
This photo was taken in Creve Coeur, Missouri This is a captive swan that is proud and full of grace...Time
This was taken during the golden hour as the sun was setting....I was just about to lose the light, I am so glad I stayed.Lighting
Sunrise and sunset can either make or break your subject matter. This photograph worked out perfectly in that the setting sun gave it an old world look.Equipment
I have a high end point and shoot that is about 6 years old, practically medieval in today's standards. What has helped me is knowing all the strengths and weaknesses of the camera. If you don't know your camera you are doing yourself a great in justice. Your camera should be an extension of your soul the instrument that will capture a moment in time forever. Its doesn't matter if you spent 50.00 or 5,000 dollars on a camera if you don't use it and know it , you will lose those great shots every time. If I could afford the high dollar equipment would I have it..... yes I would , but I can't so I have to make the best of what I have.Inspiration
The grace and beauty although captive inspired me to capture their essence. They are forever regal, noble and endearing.Editing
The back ground was naturally dark as the sun only caught the edge of the lake. All I did was increase the shadows and increase the saturation of the colors just a smidgen. In my camera bag
I am a minimalist, other then a camera all I have is a tripod that is hardly ever used, my favorite thing is to rest next to a tree whether I am standing or sitting. I never go out without extra batteries and a large memory card... Once a week I re-format the card to make sure its at its best.Feedback
My advise is if there is a subject that you are drawn to, no matter what it might be, for some it would be birds, landscapes, macro's etc invest the time in photographing that subject with the equipment you have. If that doesn't work and you can afford it go out and get a camera that works for you, but if you can't afford it you can make it work, invest the time in your beloved subject matter and your equipment you will capture those treasured moments. Photography is the perfect combination of talent and luck of being their in the that moment. But if you don't invest the time those moments will never come.
