Location
This photo was taken in Sydney. I was in Sydney for a photography workshop weekend. Of a night we went for a walk, camera and tripod in hand to photograph the sites of this beautiful city. At the time I took this photo I was just heading around to photograph the other side of the Harbour Bridge. I had no idea there were fireworks planned for that night. As we walked around I heard the fireworks go off so quickly got my tripod and camera set up just in time to capture the beauty of Sydney Opera House as the area around it lit up with fireworks.Time
From memory about 8 or 9pm.Lighting
It was low light so luckily I had my tripod and remote shutter release. The light kept changing with each lot of fireworks that went off so it was very much a matter of experimentation to get the correct exposure for this image. I took many that night but this one was my favourite.Equipment
At the time of this photo I was using a tripod, remote shutter release, sigma 28-70 f/2.8 lens with Nikon Mount and Nikon D610 camera.Inspiration
Sydney itself. Every part of this beautiful city inspires a photo, day or night.Editing
The image was shot in Raw and converted in Photoshop. I do very minimal post processing. Just slight adjustments to contrast, shadows and highlights. Then sharpen the image. In my camera bag
I like to travel light where ever possible so my go to lens is always my sigma 28-70mm f2.8. I normally have 2 filters in my bag, a polarised filter and an ND400 filter. I need to invest in more ND filters eventually. I also always carry my remote shutter release and a soft cleaning cloth.Feedback
Just go for it. Get out there, take photos and experiment. Make sure you always carry a tripod and a remote shutter release, especially for night photography or low light situations. Most of all have fun. Enjoy your surroundings and try to capture as much of what makes it beautiful as you can.
