Congratulations! I love this shot. Its so Pro family. I do not need to see his face, the emotionally connection is so great! Well done! Keep it coming! :-)

Well done! I did my first newborn shoot this summer and have done 3 since then, and can't wait to do more. Congrats on capturing a great moment!!

Location
This photo was taken at my friends house.Time
This was taken during the day.Lighting
I used natural lighting mixed with a softbox. In hind sight I wish I had had more light for most of the shoot but I like the drama that the one sided lighting produced in this shot. Really brings your focus to the baby and his face.Equipment
Nikon D7100, 50mm, Softbox and a tripod.Inspiration
This was my first ever newborn shoot and I am very proud of how it turned out. I had only been shooting for 6 months at this point and I am 100% self taught. I spent hours researching the best way to carry out a newborn shoot and in the end it was mostly just following my instincts and being intune to my subjects emotions.Editing
I lightened the shadows a bit and then added a black and white preset. In my camera bag
I always have my trusty 18-105mm lens where ever I go. Also extra batteries and a charger!Feedback
Keep the room warm! I was down to a tank top and shorts in the dead of Maine winter but the baby was happy and snoozed peacefully in the warmth. Also, on top of the ususal baby photos that couples want, keep an eye out for quick moments of deep emotion. In this shot, the father was actually calming the baby as at one point she became upset. The look of love he gave her was felt through the room. I captured the moment and the rest is history!
