Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in my home in Kentucky. I am a self-taught photographer so being creative with my settings & locations is an absolute must.Time
I love how this shot turned out. I remember admiring how the light was shining through the blinds around 7 PM as the sun was setting.Lighting
My goal for this shot was to express that people can look the same on the outside no matter whether or not they are experiencing light or darkness. I wanted the photo to be dramatic yet meaningful, so I stood at an angle that allowed the right amount of shadows to do the trick.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon EOS Rebel T5 with an 18-25 f/4.6 lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
A theme for many of my photos revolves around dramatic, emotional symbolism. I read a quote from Bob Ross about darkness vs light, and the idea instantly sparked in my mind.Editing
For this photo, there were some adjustments to the highlights and shadows, as well as the contrast, to decrease the brightness of my skin against the shadows. Other than that, the natural lighting did most of the work for me!In my camera bag
The first thing that goes in my bag is my Canon Rebel EOS T5 body, followed by both my 18-25mm lensand my 55-300mm macro lens. These lenses are very light weight and produce amazingly sharp focus. I also pack an extra SD card just in case!Feedback
Creative shots can sometimes be difficult, especially when you want to be the subject of your own shots! Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone when exploring new ways to create artistic photos, you could end up creating a masterpiece!
