Back in 2014 I drove my Daddy "back home" to East Tennessee to see his last living brother. He was in the hospital with terminal cancer. We stayed in the little town my dad had been born and raised in - a town in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains called Townsend. Back during the Depression there had been a Lumber company that provided jobs in the area. In my family is was like the family business. My grandfather clerked in the company store and my great-grandfather worked in the saw mill. During our visit Daddy wanted to visit some of the old "stomping grounds". I'm sure many memories were racing through his head at the railroad museum.
