Behind The Lens
Location
I was eating lunch at the dinner table, looking out to the back garden. I spotted the magpie on top of the trees and decided to try and get the pic... thought it would have flown away before I got the chance.Time
It was afternoon.Lighting
Typical gloomy Scottish weather.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D3200 using a Tamron 70-300mm lens.Inspiration
Back then I had not that long purchased the camera and fairly soon after, the lens. This was probably one of the first decent shots taken with this lens. I had no real idea how to use the camera properly at this point, it was on full auto. I would probably be able to reduce that high ISO now and have a less grainy background.Editing
Back then? No! ... I had no idea what post processing was! ... Even now all the pics I take are barely touched ... Crop, brightness, contrast and saturation on the Vista Windows standard viewer if i'm feeling adventurous !! I'm slowly learning that aspect though and have recently started dabbling with RAW.In my camera bag
Photography on a budget!! Nikon D3200 with kit lens (18-55mm), Tamron 70-300mm and a Kenko MC7 2x teleconverter. Various screw on filters and magnifiers and that's about it ... I can do a full range of stuff with it until I find my niche and buy the right equipment for a specific task.Feedback
It's a tough one... right place at the right time for nature pics. I know roughly what birds visit my garden... but not when they will visit. If you want something specific you need to go to a place where the subject frequents, after that it's just your luck. Set up as best you can for the conditions, because when it appears you might not be given the time to adjust!
