I see a comment this is the Coronet Peak from Queenstown, I thought I recognised it. I was looking for Arrowtown in the photo lol

where was this shot? I feel locations for such photos to be important. I travel a lot and such photos help me choose new places to visit

Location
The photo was taken from the Coronet ski field road overlooking the countryside in the Queenstown area of New ZealandTime
This was early in the morning and in Autumn so there were some nice colours on some of the trees .Lighting
The light caught the hills first and highlighted the soft curves of the terrain .Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D810 with a Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 and using a really right stuff tripod and ball head .Inspiration
There was mist hanging around and when the rising sun caught the hills emphasising the shapes of the terrain I decided a zoom into those hills would work .Editing
I processed this in Lightroom with some contrast and a little clarity , did a bit if dodge and burn and used a gradient to cool the hills behind that were still in the shade to balance the colour of the warm hills in front. In my camera bag
I always have three lenses , in this case it was all Nikon 70-200, 24-70 and 14-24mm all f/2.8 . Nd filters, lens cloths , remote shutter release , protein bar, water, torch or headlamp and of course camera and spare batteries and cards .Feedback
When confronted with a majestic panorama as we were , up high overlooking the valley below as the sun rose , it can be easy to just want to capture the whole view ,and it was a stunning view over the lake with mountains all around .However it can be rewarding to change lenses and find an frame just small sections of that vista and without sky .i always try to get as much out of the scene as possible with either different lenses and or different perspectives.
