Location
This photo was taken on a home shoot at the models house at her request Title: Daydreamer Model: Louisa Marie Location: Sparkford, SomersetTime
This was later in the afternoon around 15:30pm in December wintertime, and I was using off camera flash and beauty dishLighting
I wanted to add some mystery so lit this with some simple off camera flash from the side which I bounced off the ceiling and one single beauty dish lit from the models side.Equipment
Camera Mark III, Canon speedlite 580EX II, Beauty Dish, Lenses would of been Canon 50mmInspiration
I was inspired by the portraits of Lucie Brémeault a fashion & beauty photographer based in Paris, although this was not a studio shot it didn't matter, I wanted to emulate the style and muted colours without being too obviously studio based. I was also looking at classic beauty fashion shots at the time.Editing
Processing was in predominantly Lightroom and some final tweaks in PS CS, there was quite a bit of vignetting and I went with a combination of retro filters in the end to add to the mystery both in Nik software and Lightroom presets/filters. There was also a slight crop - but this was largely a head and shoulder portrait. In my camera bag
Canon 50mm Prime, Canon 85mm Prime for portraits and a Canon Mark III, Canon speedlite 580EX IIFeedback
The advice I would give to others is purely experiment with variations of lighting and build a repor with the model, this will ultimately help you enormously. Lucky for me this model is one of the best in the business and we have an instant rapport, she understood clearly what I was looking for and mood I was after. A true professional! This is one of those shots you get in your frame that instantly worked.
