Behind The Lens
Location
I took this photo on my trip to Yosemite in the summer of 2014, this is one of my favorite pictures taken that day.Time
It was about eleven in the morning, my friend and I had spent about half an hour to an hour trying to reach this waterfall and I was definitely pleased with what I saw when I got there. I almost wish I could see how the picture would have turned out if I had been there at sunrise, but am extremely happy with my results regardless.Lighting
I wanted to position my camera so the lighting created a rainbow at the base of the waterfall. I also used the lighting to convey the texture within the water.Equipment
I used a Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XS with an EFS 18-55mm lens, along with a tripod.Inspiration
I had just learned about taking pictures of waterfalls in my photography class, and became inspired to take as many as I could find, and capture the beauty they contain. When I saw how beautiful this area was, I couldn't resist taking my camera out to take a few shots of it.Editing
I am very proud to say that I did not do any post-processing.In my camera bag
In my camera bag, I normally keep my Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XS with my EFS 18-55mm lens. I recently got a Wide Angle Macro Lens, and I always keep that in my bag along with two microfiber cloths.Feedback
Taking photos in this area can be difficult because of all the people that visit Yosemite, but the patience will factor in greatly. Capturing a shot like this requires the lighting right before noon, and a vision in mind of what you want to capture. From what I know, Yosemite is generally sunny a majority of the time which easily recreates a visual like this in person, but always check ahead of time to be sure. The patience and timing is definitely worth it.
