I use this table for "close-up" shots like this because I place it below the ceiling light which removes the need for direct flash and also darkening everything behind. In short, I "cheat" on the close-up, as I shoot from some 10 feet away!Equipment
My good old Fuji Finepix.Inspiration
The Amaryllis is a photogenic plant anytime, but the rich colour of the plant in bud, under the light, was inspiring.Editing
None at all. The colour of the plant said it all. As the old saying goes "You can't improve on Mother Nature"!In my camera bag
The Fuji is such a versatile camera that all I need is the camera and my tripod (and lunch!). For indoor shots such as this, using different available lighting and subject positioning make for a range of different results.Feedback
Never be afraid to experiment to achieve the image that you are looking for. The advantage of shooting plants indoors is the fact that they can easily be manipulated without complaint, and I found that if I did my shooting away from my wife's field of vision (and therefore her favourite soap) there was no conflict of interest!
