Last summer I was traveling around the Navajo Reservation for several weeks. I had been wanting to take pictures of Shiprock in North West New Mexico for some time. As I traveled to the town of Shiprock I began receiving lots of forewarnings from friends and family about the dangers in the area. I'm accustomed to the occasional forewarning but I began receiving warnings from almost everyone I was talking to. This changed my somewhat heightened awareness to ultra sensitive. When I first arrived at the location I was skeptical about how to proceed with camping spots and where I could best protect myself and my gear. Fortunately I quickly made several friends, who had come to climb Shiprock. They put all my worries at ease and allowed me to focus on photography.
One of the other challenges upon my arrival was torrid spring winds. When I woke up in the morning it was the first time it had really been calm since my arrival. The view of the rock outside of my tent door was framed almost magically. I couldn't help but capture the moment.

This is an awesome outdoor recreational shot.
Campsite views don't get much better than this.
It tells tales of a good nights sleep after a day of exploration and of new adventures to come.
Congratulations on another fine addition to your already great gallery.
