Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was taken in Phan Rang a little town in Vietnam. The lady was sitting in front of a little store.

Time

It was around 3 pm on a sunny/cloudy day. The lady was sitting in complete shadow

Lighting

When I took the picture there were some thin white clouds covering the sun. And the lady was sitting in complete shadow.

Equipment

I used a Sony A6000 System-camera with a Sony 50mm F1.8 lens. (APS-C - 75mm). No Flash.

Inspiration

It is for my Street-photography Portrait Project "Meet a Stranger". I make a Portrait Photo and write a few sentences where and how I approached the person.

Editing

I used Perfect B & W to transform it into B&W. Then I mainly pushed the contrast up. I also adjusted it to a bit warmer light.

In my camera bag

For the Street-Portrait Project I usually only carry my Sony A6000 and the 1.8 F 50mm (APS-C 75mm) lens with me. As I walk around quite a bit with it and do not want to scare the people with too much equipment when I approach them.

Feedback

Ask the Person if you can take a Photo. They pictures usually look better when the person looks in the camera. Plus you can go close and do not need to crop in. I shot with F1.8. Have some patience as some people look unnatural or even worse posing for the picture. Make sure you make it sharp on the eyes especially with shooting F1.8. That's about it.
