Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at a nature center in rural Iowa.It is call Pioneer Ridge Nature Area!Many of cold winter days sitting quietly in the blind have been spent there!

Time

This was a day of experimenting for me.I got up early and I had prepared the night before so I was out the door quickly.It was around 7 am.

Lighting

The light in the morning when i took this picture was real bad.I had planned on trying different things with settings.I remembered a blog i had read about using flash for birds in flight.I tried it and I am glad i did.I got some real sharp pictures that morning.

Equipment

I shot this photo with a Sony Alpha 77 II, and my lens was a sigma 150-500.

Inspiration

I am always on the hunt to take a better picture than i have before.That is my real passion is trying to out do myself.

Editing

I use Optics Pro for editing the picture.I really like the noise removal and the simplicity of just moving sliders.

Feedback

Keep your trigger finger in good shape and hit the trails.I use the pray and spray method a lot of times.I have been trying out manual focus, and different things.Keep experimenting and who knows what will happen!
