This is terrific. We have rabbits flash across the meadow by our home and I can't fathom how gracefully this was captured.

Location
I took this photo on a friends farm land in New Hamburg, Ontario, Canada.Time
It was around 10am in the morning.Lighting
It was an overcast day making for no shadows and a clean background because of the snow.Equipment
I used a Nikon D600 with a Nikon 300mm f4 lens.Inspiration
I was headed to a fellow photographers place to work on some video editing. Once I got there he told me there was some rabbits in his backyard and asked if I wanted to get photograph them before we started our video editing since he knew I loved photographing wildlife. I almost declined because I was eager to get the work done. I'm glad I said sure! Laying on my stomach with my camera settings all ready for some action the rabbit ran towards the safety of the bush when it got startled. When I saw the image and how lucky I got I knew the rabbit left me with something special. Having an encounter with a wild animal and being able to share the encounter with others keeps me in nature looking for more. I hope I can inspire others to care and treat nature and animals with as much respect as they need.Editing
I cropped the image in slightly and increased the exposure a little. In my camera bag
My main lens of choice for photographing wildlife is my Nikon 600mm f4 VR paired with a Nikon D4 body. I also have a Nikon 300mm 2.8 VR which is mainly for sports. Paired with the 1.7 teleconverter it's a nice alternate to my 600mm. Other lenses I use are the Nikon 14-24 f2.8, 24-70 f2.8 , 70-200 f2.8 VR and 105mm Macro. Other camera bodies I own are the Nikon D800 and Nikon D750.Feedback
I try and treat photographing animals like shooting sports. I use a fast shutter and aperture most of the time because you never know when they are going to take off and run or fly away. I shoot in Aperture Priority Mode most often so I don't have to fool around with my shutter speed. Just make sure your ISO is high enough to ensure your shutter speed is at a minimum of 1/1000th sec to freeze action. You need to be ready to get that sharp action shot. My auto focus mode is on Continuous d9 (continuous 9-point} for larger subjects and for smaller faster moving birds I switch to Continuous d21 or d51. (Nikon Users)
