Location
This image was taken at Swan Lake in Iowa.Time
Late afternoon.Lighting
The image was taken in winter at sunset, and it was an extremely cold and damp Midwest day.Equipment
Nikon D50 with Nikon 70-200mm Zoom lens.Inspiration
I had flown back to Iowa for my Fathers funeral. It was of course a very emotional time. I decided to take a drive down to Swan Lake by myself to walk around a little. They housed a small herd of buffalo at the time, and I watched them for a bit. It was extremely cold and damp, well below zero, and the sun was setting. As it was winter, so very cold and snowing, no one else was at the lake. The buffalo were in amongst some trees. This buffalo walked over to where I was standing, and seemed to be looking at me. He seemed to wonder why I was there. I took a few images and he walked away. Kind of a moment.. It wasn't until I looked at the image later his eye seemed to have an "understanding".Editing
Just a little curves adjustment in Photoshop. In my camera bag
Nikon D80, Tamron 18-270mm zoom, and a Tamron 90mm macro.Feedback
Don't let your emotions or the weather stop you from grabbing the camera bag and taking a drive or walk.
