This, photo was taken inside my home. Being a self taught photographer I use what models are available to me. This means my poor children become my models when experimenting with a new techniques. As for her expression basically says are we done yet.,Time
As for me photography is a never ending learning process, this photo was shot indoors around 4:00 pm. Her expression was just to good not to share.Lighting
As I am constantly learning new things, the technique of this shot was very simple. The photo was under exposed to a point where you could barely see the outline of her. Then I added a simple flash light at an angle. Then took the picture again. This kept the background black allowing my subjects face to be the only thing showing.Equipment
Canon 6D, 24-105mm f4, L usm lens. With a standard flash light.Inspiration
This shot was inspired by some of the amazing photographers and there use of light, right here on view bug. Since I am constantly challenging myself in photography I wanted to try and make my own directional light photos.Editing
Post processing was basically processing the raw file. Correcting white balance and adjusting highlights and shadows, then converted to black and white using silver effects pro. From there was contrast adjustment and sharpness. In my camera bag
For my camera bag is simple, canon 6D, with 24-105mm f4 L usm lens. Great walk around lens. 50 mm, f1.8. Lastly and not used much is a 70-300, f3.5-5.6 . By far with the nifty 50 being my favorite.Feedback
If your looking to try something similar, the steps are easy and can be done indoors at anytime of day. Start out in Manuel mode with normal exposure, reduce your iso. Take a test shot. Is the subject under exposed to a point you can barely see them and the background completely black? If not reduce your shutter speed till it is. Giving your indoor lighting you might have to use a tripod for your final shot. Once your subject is just barely visible, grab a flashlight and shine it on your subject and take the shot. Try different angles with the flashlight.
