Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken at some natural hot springs that my husband and I visited for a night.

Time

It was taken sometime in the morning on a late fall, early winter day, around 10am.

Lighting

The natural lighting for this shot was absolutely perfect. It was a cold overcast day and the springs are surrounded by dense forest, rock walls and a river. I didn't need anything other than the light through the trees, reflecting off the water.

Equipment

This picture was shot using a Canon 6D and a 24-105mm lens.

Inspiration

The water in the hot spring pools is absolutely pristine and clear and as my husband was soaking I looked over and loved the reflection that was projected and it's symmetry.

Editing

For this picture I really did very minimal post-processing. I converted the raw image, tweaked the colors and exposure just slightly in Photoshop and added a simple 'clean up' action to it.

In my camera bag

I haven't accumulated a large variety of equipment yet as I'm still early into my photography journey but I have my Canon 6D, a 24-105mm f4 lens, a 40mm f2.8 lens, a set of extension tubes, a battery, an extra sd card, a UV filter and my 5-in-1 reflectorsattached to my bag.

Feedback

The light for this picture was key; no bright sunlight to have to deal with. Be sure to get down as low as possible and if you're in the water, hold on tight to your camera, haha! If you have a willing model, take advantage by capturing different facial expressions.
