Location
The photo was taken in Kenya at 14 Falls. One of the rapidly growing falls that's increasingly getting polluted.Time
I took this sometime before sunset. Usually to get to these falls, you need to drive about an Hour and a half from the capital city, Nairobi. We took quite sometime as we were aiming to shoot from before sunset to dusk.Lighting
Before the sun went down, the light had a warm, soft and golden feel that was so inviting for shooting.Equipment
This was shot using a tripod, Canon 60D and a Canon 18-55mm lens.Inspiration
This particular waterfall has been deteroriating every so often. If I were to take the same image or a similar image today, it would not look the same again due to the pollution that's taken place. My aim was to show that we need to protect and conserve such beauty, what we're currently doing to nature will only be disadvantageous to us.Editing
This particular image only went through a bit of retouching on Lightroom and I merged 3 exposures on Photoshop to later blend the image to a HDR image in Photomatix Pro.In my camera bag
Since I took this photo, I have grown and evolved in my photography. At the time, I was starting out. Now I usually have a Sony tripod, a Canon 6D, Canon 24-105mm f4 L lens,Canon 50mm 1.4 Lens, a set of 3 ND filters and a remote trigger. I'm more of a landscape and portrait photographer if you can derive that from my equipment.Feedback
There's lots of places to places to photograph in Kenya. It's a beautiful country. You'll fins plenty of waterfalls in different parts of the country. For this particular type of image, you will definitely need a tripod for stability, a remote trigger is advisable to reduce camera shake and a good lens that can stop down to a high f stop. An ND filter is also recommended in case you would want to convey motion using long exposures.
