Behind The Lens

Location

This is a working farm down in southwestern Minnesota in Jackson County.

Time

This was surprisingly mid-day when I'm not usually out with my camera.

Lighting

Mid-day sun sometimes can work for you. Not always, but this time it did.

Equipment

Shot on a Nikon camera (D800? D300? I don't recall) and probably a Tokina 14-24 f4 if it was the D300; Nikon 17-35 if it was the D800). No tripod or other lights.

Inspiration

I have in-laws in southwestern Minnesota and when we go visit them I get to do drive around and check out the scenery with my cameras.

Editing

I believe this is a black and white HDR.

In my camera bag

Nikon D750 currently with a Tamron 24-70 f2.8, Tamron 70-200 f2.8 and a Tokina 16-28 f2.8.

Feedback

Keep looking for angles and how the light hits your subject. One angle might not produce something as great as another one will. Move around, move up and down if possible. I tried this shot straight on of the barn and it just didn't work. Moving to the left have you more depth and a better sky.
