Location
This photo was taken along a bike trail in Michigan during the summer. We had stopped to take a break after trying to get some photos that just were not turning out and the simplest, unplanned shot was the one that turned out the best.Time
This photo was taken in the afternoon on a summer day when the sun is low enough to be able to manipulate and use to your advantage if you know how to use it.Lighting
The one thing about the lighting for this photo is that it was all natural sunlight that had some shadow tree coverage to be able to keep the sun out of the eyes.Equipment
The only equipment used for this image was my Canon with an 18-55mm lens and my knee for support in a sitting position.Inspiration
The inspiration for this photo was that there wasn't any inspiration. We had taken a break from taking photos and sat down to chat and go through the photos we had already taken. We were talking about simplifying things a bit and we took this photo originally just as an example but it turned out to be one of the best photos of the whole day.Editing
The only post editing that I did for this photo was basic things, such as sharpening and slight color boost to do an overall brightening. In my camera bag
The things that I keep in my bag are constantly changing. Right now aside from my camera and the 18-55mm lens I use most of the time, I also keep my 200mm lens and my battery charger. Hand sanitizer is one that has been in there for a little while now and a pen. I have added a prism that stays in my bag, because you never know when it'll come in handy. Snacks are occasionally thrown in my bag and gets rotated out.Feedback
To capture something similar to this, I think would be pretty simple. The photographer would be aiming at a downward angle while the subject is lower. A body of water may or may not be in the background or something else entirely. The subject would hold a casual pose. the best time to take a photo of this would be in the afternoon probably between 4 and 5 over warmer months but if you are going to a summery glow, something closer to the golden hour would be nice as well. The camera angle could be rotated a little from one side to the next or up and down. Keep it simple.
