Behind The Lens

Location

The picture was taken at the Papiliorama in Chiètres (Switzerland), which reconstitutes the tropical forest and presents flora and fauna. You can see more than 1500 butterflies among other exotic animals.

Time

It was 2 pm.

Lighting

The Papiliorama is a very damp place and quite dark, but I did not use the flash, taking advantage of a glass roof just above.

Equipment

This was shot on Canon EOS 1000D with EF-S 18-55mm objective, f/3.5-5.6 IS.

Inspiration

I wanted to take as many pictures as possible of the graceful and colored butterflies. Then I saw this flower, elegant, flexible, a bit hidden under the trees as if it was embarrassed to be so nice and I immediately wanted to photograph it.

Editing

I re-centred the picture and cleaned stains on the petals of the flower.

In my camera bag

My Canon EOS 1000D and my only objective (until now) EF-S 18-55 mm. The tripod and Remote Switch stay at home for this kind of "souvenir shooting" and I only take them when I want to shoot a specific subject.

Feedback

I looked around for a while trying to find the most pretty flower in the better light. Without tripod, I had no other solution than stopping breathing while taking the picture.
