Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Bolivia. This high mountain area called the Altiplano, altitude here from 3500 meters up to 6500 meters. On the photo you can see a very dramatic sunset on a dried-up salt lake Uyuni (salt flats), which is located at the altitude of 3650 meters. On the horizon, located a beautiful sleeping volcano Tunupa, it "decorated" with beautiful crown crater.

Time

This light show happened just before sunset.

Lighting

A long time I studied the climate of the area, I wanted to come at the right time of year. This pattern of salt can be found in October and November, but those sunsets worth wait closer to the rainy season. Even if the day is overcast, at sunset happens pretty stormy show with lightnings.

Inspiration

For many years I was inspired by my Dream. To get to the Altiplano, first I had to grow up, get a profession, gain experience of independent travelling, learn Spanish and English, organize an expedition and finally come to this remote mountain region. My dream has come true, now I work in the region and teaching other dreamers the basics of panoramic photography.

Editing

In this photo stitched 5 vertical shots taken with the 16 mm. Selective colors and contrast in Photoshop.
