Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Batam island, precisely in Tiban area. Actually I don't really know what the insect's name, but people here call it bungkuk (bent) may be because it always bends.

Time

This photo was taken on sunday, Dec 14, 2014, pricesely at 5 pm . As I know, bungkuk appears more at afternoon than morning, the biggest bungkuk I found is about 1/2 centimeter.

Lighting

In bungkuk's (Bent) photo. I didnt use external flash, I only used the afternoon sunlight. I rarely use external flash for macro photo because I have not been able to play the lighting perfectly.

Equipment

Equipment that I used to take this photo is Camera Canon Eos 60D, Lens 100mm Macro IS USM with F/7.1 ISO 200 Exposure 1/40.

Inspiration

Actually I have no idea when I took this photo, it's because photo of wild insect taken by accidentally. But what made me happy of taking this photo are all my friends in Batam Photographer Comunity

Editing

Of course, I did many things for this photo, post-proccessing like cropping, correct the white balance, and sharpening

In my camera bag

I usualy bring canon 60d and 100mm lens macro is usm, it's because I really like taking small insect picture. Sometimes I use that to take other things. I think we should maximize the tools we have.

Feedback

If you want to take a photo of bungkuk, try to find them around the bush, height is about 1/2 meter. there're many dragonfly usually, because dragonfly eat bungkuk, I dont know for sure, what the clime they live. Indonesia has a tropical climate,so bungkuk can be in every country that have a tropical climate too. In the end, we must be patient to take a bungkuk's photo, and the sharp eyes are reqeuired to find them
