It was 2:30 in the morning when we went out here to shoot and Astrophotographers were gathered here at Lake tekapo to capture stars and the play of the southern lights. Aurora australis is the counterpart of the more popular aurora borealis in the arctic region and can be seen in High altitudes such as this place. Red is the dominant color and highly visible during intense solar activity with green and purple hue. Astrophotography is not much my cup of tea, i am still learning the discipline and rules of this genre, but who wouldn't want to miss such opportunity to photograph a clear sky on one of the darkest skies and best stargazing and locations on earth?! Amazing experience to see it and reflect how insignificant we are in this universe we are nestled in.
