Breathtaking photo, stunning colors. I love the contrast of the one single tree in the frozen landscape.

Congrats! This is one of most voted and also one of my top favourite photo of Purple Landscape. Look at the bottom of the tree, there is some editing issue. Nevertheless, Congratulations!

AlanC, thank you so much. I was really curious with what you said on that editing issue, at first I was really thinking because I know that this is not a composite image. What i did when I took photo of this landscape I used 2 filters stacked together. I did not even crop this. Yes I popped up the color saturation. So I went to zoom the RAW files to see what is the issue. in RAW files there are holes in the branches if that is what you mean and still there because I did not erase it, the yellow color is there also in RAW file

If only I can show you the raw file in viewbug I will but we don't have that kind of application here. But looking at the RAW files and comparing it to files i submitted here it has all the elements, the only thing that change is the color saturation, you know what I mean RAW versus edited file the colors is a little different really. However, thank you for raising that comment. I proved that I was not wrong basing on what i see in my RAW file...thanks my friend.

Location
The photo was taken at Red Lake Nation, Minnesota, USA. It is a big lake located in Northern Minnesota, USA where the Chippewa Native Americans Live.Time
It was taken at exactly 8:38:34 PM. Spring and Thawing time.Lighting
My husband dropped me off in the shore line and I walked really to the slope where i found the snow. The sun was tired for the whole day journey and ready to set in the horizon. I sat up and waited for the moment. I heard lots of cracking, dang! it was my first time to witness this ICE tsunami. The wind blew hard however i wore my winter jacket, winter pants, and winter hat that time because even though it was thawing period already but still cold because of the wind. Then the sun sat in the horizon and have shown me the dramatic pinky, purple, yellow, and blue combination of landscape. Thank you for the moment mother nature, those were the words that came out into my moth.Equipment
EOS Canon 1D X, EF16-35mm f/2.8L II USM, 1 Galen Rowell Filter ND-3G-SS, Heliopan 82mm Slim Circular Polarizer, 1 Manfroto 190XPROB,Inspiration
I watch the television news always for me to keep abreast with what is happening in my surrounding. I heard that there was really Ice Tsunami happening in Minnesota. So I told my husband that we will take photos of the ICE Tsunami. We decided to come up in this Lake because it is big and prone to Ice Tsunami. Much of our surprise, the ICE was really crawling up in the shoreline as the wind pushed them so hard. What i love to witness was when the sun started to sat down, the ice or snow was turning blue and blue spots in the rotten ice in the lake also.Editing
Yes I did increase a little of saturation. In my camera bag
I normally have my 3 canon cameras with me when we decided to have a photo hunt. I am not fond of changing lens outside my studio so lenses are on already with those cameras. When I plan to have landscape most of the lenses i put are those for landscape also. Tripod, filters, and trigger release.Feedback
Have patience, don't leave immediately. When the sun is setting already wait until 30 minutes or so. There you can capture breathtaking view. You can used filters like Neutral Density, Graduated Neutral Density, or Polarizer. However when you stack lots of filter see to it that you focus well your subject first before stacking filters one on top of the other. Remember also that when you stack filters there is the possibility of vignetting. So aware of that. However you can use vignetting also to focus attention on your subject. Wear warm clothing and you are good to go.
