Wow Great capture on snow Flakes
See all

Behind The Lens

Location

This photos was shot in my back yard in Illinois.

Time

I took the photo around 1:00 pm

Lighting

100% natural

Equipment

I used a Nikon D200 with a Nikon 40mm f2.8 micro lens. The camera was used freehand.

Inspiration

I've always loved the geometery of snow flakes. There were flurries falling and took the opportunity to capture some photos.

Editing

Slight post processing to adjust exposure and sharpened slightly.

In my camera bag

I shoot mainly with a Nikon D3 and have my D200 for a backup now. I have now moved up to full frame glass.

Feedback

Be patient. Always look at your subject from different angles to obtain the best lighting if using natural light and be in the moment as the flakes are falling. Mother Nature takes them back pretty fast.
