Behind The Lens
Location
This picture was taken in Seattle, Washington at my son's home. He was cat-sitting for a friend who was out of town.Time
This picture Was taken in the afternoon. Just before I clicked, i noticed the window was really dirty, but took it anyway because i wanted the curtains to obscure part of the face and wasn't certain the cat would keep the intense stare into the lens.Lighting
The sun shone on the window behind the cat and i liked the look, so direct and intense.Equipment
Camera: Canon 20D, ISO 400, 1/125 sec. f13, 85mmInspiration
The beauty of black and white, the partially hidden body and face of the cat and the intense stare right into the lens.Editing
There was no post-processing.In my camera bag
Two cameras,, Canon 20D and Canon 7D, though i just purchased 5D and will give 20D to my Grandson. Each camera has mounted lens, usually with canon 100-400 and a shorter lens-sometimes a prime, or a 300mm with 2x mounted which makes me ready for variety of shots. Extra battery for each camera, fully charges, lens air bulb cleaner, cards, light weight gloves, safety glasses which I use if there is much wind to keep my old eyes from watering, tools for adjusting and mounting camera onto tripod. rain covers for cameras with one large cover for long lens. Cap to keep sun out of my eyes, ties and bungee cords, scotch take and very small roll of small amount of duct tape.Feedback
Have your camera close at hand with settings for the present available light ready to take a picture, practice recognizing a picture--stay alert, take a picture without hesitation--trust your instinct because you may not have time to second-guess if what you see is worthy.
