The photo was taken one night, when I decided to get lost a little. Actually I've had enough of misty valleys and I decided to go above the fog in the hills, just wanted to see the stars ...Time
It was night time, around 10 pm, I remember it was cold night (winter, even there were no snow yet), and the moon was rising behind my back ...Lighting
I wanted this image looks natural as much as it could be ... the full moon gave me enough light to get the ground ... so I set the photo to sequence and decided to enjoy the mystic of the lonely night ... I used several different settings to get the image on the different levels as I wanted ... and when I started shooting stars I just went ahead and stand there admiring the night sky ...Equipment
This was shot with NikonD600 on tripod, with an 16-28 mm lens ...Inspiration
When I saw the view I knowed what i wanna do ... I got the picture in my mind ...Editing
Yes, of course I did ... I assembled the ground from 5 images (used different settings to get the background I wanted), and used over 100 images from sequences of the stars (layer over layer) to get the trail (the gaps are from the paused time, and I didn't wanna fix that by post-processing, because it just look "right" to me ... the story of the loniles, the wind, the cold ... perhaps is just me) ...In my camera bag
Almost every time I have all my lenses with me in my bag ... you just don't know what you'll find on your way, and sometimes you get nice surprise like this one in front of the lens ... usually when you are least expected it ... so I have in my bag: Nikon D600 and Nikon D5100 (for backup), 16-28 mm (f/2.8), 50 mm (f/1.8), macro 105 mm (f/2.8) and 70-300 mm (f/4.5-5.6) ... and of course tripod and remote control ... so, I don't mind the extra weight to carry around, even if most of the time I use 16-28 mm and macro lens ...Feedback
My advice is ... just go out and take photos ... and when you'll know it's the right moment, don't bother go home before you don't get what you see ... it's easy.
