This is a very lovely photo. The colors are wonderful. I wish the horizon ocean line was straight, but other than that..... WOW!!!!! Very beautiful. :-)

Location
This photo was taken from a boat off the coast of Cinque Terre. It was my first trip to Italy, and I was amazed by all of the architecture and especially the colors of this place. Whenever I see this photo, it reminds me of fresh pesto I ate by the seaside.Time
This photo was taken as the sun was getting lower in the sky. I just happened to be on the boat at that time to catch the light hitting the buildings at the perfect angle.Lighting
I let the sun do all the work for the lighting. I love natural light, and in this case it worked exactly how I wanted it to.Equipment
I used a Cannon PowerShot SX130 IS. I don't have any equipment or really even a fancy camera, but I feel great shots can be made with any type of camera. It is all in the photographer.Inspiration
I loved how grand it looked for a small village. The colors of the buildings were beautiful and they contrasted well with the mountain and the sea. I had never seen anything like it.Editing
I just use the iPhoto editor on my Mac to edit photos. I enhanced the color, because to my eyes it was very vivid, but it did not come across that way through the camera. I don't remember exactly what else I did for this besides cropping it, but usually I up contrast, brightness, and maybe decreased some highlights on this. I also had to straighten it as much as I could since I was on a boat that was rocking. In my camera bag
I just carry my camera and some extra batteries. I like to travel light.Feedback
I am an amateur and pretty much self taught besides one photography class in high school, which I took because I was already interested in photography. So, anyone can capture something like this if you try. I've learned over the years that you just have to be ready and open to possibly new and different things so that you can encounter interesting subjects. Always be on the lookout for that photo. This landscape was an obvious capture, but some are not so obvious and can be just as great. I always pay attention to how I am cropping the image too. That can really focus the photo or give it a completely different feel. I cropped this image so that it was really focused on how the buildings were sitting on the mountainside and it gave the image a nice balance.
