I took this photo on my back patio. I have a big magnolia tree in my backyard, and this was on the ground after it had rained.Time
This photo was taken during the afternoon. It was rainy, but I still wanted to go out and see what I could find.Lighting
The photo was taken outside in cloudy weather. I did not set up any lighting, but I did use the flash on my camera to really bring out the drops.Equipment
This photo was taken with a Canon PowerShot SX130 IS.Inspiration
I love photos with water elements. When I saw this leaf and the practically perfectly aligned water droplets, I knew I had to get it in a photo. I had never seen anything like it. I also like to take my shots at close range. I think it provides for a different view and can turn something common, like a leaf, into a piece of art.Editing
I do not have anything fancy to edit photos with, so this was actually done with just the standard iPhoto tools. I like to up the contrast, boost the color, and increase the sharpness on most of my shots, like I did with this one. It is amazing that great photos can come from just simple editing. I think that fact can really inspire anyone to try photography. You don't need an expensive camera or photoshop, you can get great shots just by being creative! In my camera bag
I'm a simple photographer. All I need is my camera and extra batteries, and I'm ready to go! I like the freedom os just carrying around a camera and being able to take a photo right in the moment. All I have to do is turn the camera on and snap away.Feedback
I would mainly say for this it is all about getting out there and finding stuff that inspires you. I did not set that leaf up, I went out and found it. That leaf could have easily been missed, so it is best to look at everything around you because you never know where a great photo might be hiding. Angles are also really important. I took a straight on photo of the leaf before I took this one, and let me say it was not nearly as cool looking. Experimenting with angles is a good way to get a unique and interesting shot. I have taken photos of some very common things before from extreme angles and it just completely transforms the object.
