Beautiful color and clarity. One of those pictures you can look at for hours getting into the story of it. Congrats on the award.

Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken during a winter break to Cornwall. We were very lucky to have an apartment facing Mevagissey Harbour very close to where this image was taken.

Time

The image was taken early morning to get the best use of light.

Lighting

I wanted to achieve an arty feel to the image so had to wait for the right lighting to arrive.

Equipment

The image was taken with a Fuji X Pro 1 Using a tripod.

Inspiration

There is something special about costal village and particular Mevagissy a working fishing village. The sounds and smell draw people to this part of the world. My inspiration was the quaint cottages and the reflections they gave at low water.

Editing

There was an element of post processing to archive the effect. The original thoughts were to capture as a HDR and was post processed with Photmatix with the aim to creat a realistic arty feel to the image.

In my camera bag

I normally carry a X Pro 1 with several lenses. I like to carry a tripod so I take multiple image for merging into HDR

Feedback

images such as this have to be pre visualised and timed correctly. The image has to be made and not taken time has to be spent looking at light and tides.
