Not a massive fan of mono light painting, I love the vibrant colours too much. After having a mess about with my previous post I decided I wasn't a fan of the red walls as it detracted from the beauty of the stonemasonry. I feel a mono conversion really shows off the fine craftsmanship and a sizeable crop brings more of the fine details out.
I hope to return here on Saturday to give this room the attention it deserves as when this was shot, time was not on our side.

Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken atFountains Abbey at the Lumiere event

Time

The majority of my shots are taken at night as I require the Shutter to remain open whilst I add the lighting effects.

Lighting

I use a bright torch to illuminate the scene. I also have numerous light painting tools. In this Shit I used my own tool which consists of a bunch of led lights on a string which I spin around to create the orb.

Equipment

Canon 650d, Tokina 11/16mm f2.8, led Lenser p7.2

Inspiration

All the awesome and talented light painters plying their trade in the darkness. In particular Denis Smith and his "ball of light".

Editing

Mono conversion in lightroom and dragged back the highlights.

In my camera bag

Apart from the obvious camera and lenses my tripod is the mist important piece of kit along with my wireless remote. Torches, gels and other led lights are essential light painting kit.

Feedback

Go out into the darkness with a bag of lights. Camera in bulb mode on a tripod and wave the lights about. Most importantly how s to have fun and be aware. Light painting is addictive.
