I took this photo on a nice summer evening on Koh Samui, Thailand.Time
During sunsetLighting
I made a 7 photo bracket to work on it in PhotomatixEquipment
Nikon D200, 16mm Fish-eye lens, a brandless tripod. No flash triggered. Also no filters used.Inspiration
I am a great fan of sunsets. First it gives a great light, bit also a serene feel. It is getting quiet and the birds are chirping for the last time that day. I was looking out of the window and seen the clouds moving in from the west. I thought to have a try and moved by motor bike to this place. The low tide made the rock almost floating on the water. Just composed it and shot the photo.Editing
Photomatix 3 i used. Then go into Light Room 3 and finish it in Photoshop CS5.In my camera bag
Nikon D200, 16mm fish eye, 18-70 mm kit lens, 60 mm macro, 100-400 tele zoom, Tripod, Circular Polariser, Sky Filter, home made trigger release.......Feedback
Wait until the sun went under the horizon. I see so many people come and go before this happens. They miss the best part. 5 to 10 minutes the sun is away, the colours really start to pop. Be patient and look around for compositions and interesting detail for a foreground. This is very important for a nice sunset photo. The sky is the star, but to make it pop is some interesting in front.
