Location
"No Fear" was taken in Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, AfricaTime
The photo was taken at 8am on 6/23/10.Lighting
The lighting was overcast. With the light color of the lion and grass, the lighting proved to work well for the photograph.Equipment
A Canon EOS 40D and EF 400mm f/5.6 L USM were used to take this photo. The camera was mounted on a Manfrotto monopod for added support.Inspiration
I always wanted an image of a lion in the wild. This was the second day of the safari. Once I saw her there was not much more inspiration needed.Editing
The image was processed using Photoshop Elements. Cropping, lighting adjustments and sharpening were done on this image. In my camera bag
I shoot with Canon equipment. I still use the EF 400mm f/5.6 L USM. I have since purchased a EF 600mm f/4 L IS USM for wildlife photography.Feedback
Not everyone will have the chance to go to Africa. My advice is general as it relates to wildlife photography. 1 - know your gear 2 - understand exposure 3 - understanding lighting and angle of light 4 - understand your subject 5 - be patient 6 - respect your subject
