This cute little guy lives in the waters of Papua New Guinea.Time
It was our third dive of the day (out of 5 or 6) and I was looking for some of Papua's more unusual critters. But he kept following me and following me. After about 40 minutes, I turned around to see him again, raised my camera and he swam right in from his comfortable'safe' distance and posed, it was -for sure - on purpose! I took it, gave him the universal 'OK' sign and he backed off yet continued to follow along for the rest of the dive. I looked for him on all the other dives but he'd seen enough. In the back waters of the world, I was as pleasant a surprise to him as he was to me. I am thankful for his companionship and curiosity.Lighting
The lighting is available light because of the time of day.Equipment
I shared this moment, forever, with my first digital... a massive 4 meg Sony in an underwater housing. I bought it just for this trip, choosing Sony for their consistent reliability/ Reliability is mega mega important when out to sea for 10 days and the nearest camera shop is three hundred miles awayInspiration
I love to dive and travel!! My original attitude when people said to me, "You should have taken some pictures" - was Hey! Suck it and learn to dive. BUT then when I was in Belize and from the depths below came Six 25 to 30 foot whale sharks and I tried to express how fabulous it was, I could see in people's eyes they thought it another fish story. I immediately bought the camera when I got back to the states :-)Editing
The only post I did was white balance for the water. In my camera bag
I travel with a Sony or two (for reasons above), batteries, standard kit lenses, cards and a good attitude. And a case to put them all in.Feedback
I read somewhere Buddha siad, "Don't tell me how much you know, tell me how much you've traveled". Although there are absolutely beautiful things in your back yard - there are beautiful things and cultures and adventures out in the world to. The fellow travelers you meet doing adventures are just as interesting as you are if not more so. The idea is listen rather than talk. That's why you have 2 ears and one mouth. Consider this your Call To Adventure!
