Congrats on being "featured" ... yet another impressive waterfront portrayal, as compared with while perusing your gallery. My only quibble here lay with the eye pulling foreground shadow ... perhaps exasperated with implementing HDR? Of course this only as I see things and is IMHO.

Location
I took this photo during my Easter vacations in Bruges in Belgium.Time
This was my very first attempt of the HDR method. I believe the date was 16th of March 2013. A sunny but a very cold day with some clouds here and there. I believe it was around 10:00 in the morning when I was walking on that bridge.Lighting
I was just messing around with my camera. The light was not the best one because the sun was already up but when I noticed that the water was clear and calm reflecting almost everything, I took the chance to use it making this HDR. The clouds helped me a lot to filter the strong light from the sun.Equipment
My camera is a simple Nikon D5100 and the lens I was using back then was a Nikon DX 18-55. Nothing more nothing less. No polarized filter, no tripod. Just a my camera. Some times the only thing you need is a camera and a good composition.Inspiration
The water, the clouds and the dead silence inspired me to take this photo. Simple as that.Editing
I took 3 photos one without compensation, one with a positive and one with a negative compensation (using bracketing mode). Then I just processed and combined these 3 in Photomatix. In my camera bag
My camera Nikon D5100, my DX lenses: a Nikon 18-55, a Nikon 55-300, a Nikon micro 40mm, and a Sigma 10-20, a polarized filter, a MeFoto RoadTrip Tripod and my charger.Feedback
My advice is to take photos when the sun is rising or going down. Only then you can play with the shadows and make the photo more interesting. The sky is very important for the outdoor pictures and especially for the HDR. The more the clouds and the colors, the better the picture. Also shoot RAW and in Manual mode. Learn the role of the aperture and the shutter speed and take a lot of photos.
